Well established law firm, Smith & Partners, were looking to grow their medium sized suburban practice. They were unsure whether to relocate, expand or use the existing space. Their premises were in a good location but the space they currently were occupying was dated and limited their plans for expansion.
Once a spatial assessment was done, acquiring additional space on the ground floor enabled them to accommodate the number of future partners and solicitors they wanted for the practise. Improving the office functionality and adding more meeting rooms & break out areas was also a priority.
Partner Wade Hansen, said being involved in this type of project for the first time and seeing it unfold was a great experience. Having a designer and project manager on board enabled the fit-out to be completed seamlessly. It was an excellent result coming in under budget."

"We didn't have a clue what we could do with the space. Once the area was demolished we had a blank canvass. We couldn't see the big picture and what the space could be like. Malcolm & Sumner's advice was very beneficial."
“We have a modern look that's lighter and cleaner - a design that will last the distance. Not too ostentatious - it's a look we were trying to achieve - within our client's expectations. We didn't want to look like big city lawyers."
It's pleasing to have people on board you can trust in terms of design and outcome. Not being familiar with the design process it was helpful not to have to spend hours & hours working things out. Malcolm & Sumner sorted out all the variables and provided workable options."
“Managing the process from the partners' point of view, we were able to continue concentrating on our core business. The process was really good - minimal problems with a seamless transition. The temporary shift was well managed and saved a lot of disruption."
“We found our designer professional, reassuring and practical. We have a good working relationship with Diane. We have the same ethics ourselves and how we run our own practice."
“Our staff really enjoyed the change. The process excited them and it was good to have their input early on."
“We've had good comments from our clients. It's definitely been a worthwhile exercise. It's re-invigorating and a good business investment."
